Intel released a new celeron dual core E1400 which have 400MHz higher clock than E1200 at stock. However, it cost a little more

hmm i wonder if this one is also a great OC'er. would probably add in another 8 bucks to get the e2xxx series

Very nice budget CPU! I'm sure they are good overclockers, but with cache that small it really hurts performance.

would cache really matter that much? there are charts showing how an e7200 OC'ed to the clock speed of an e8400, and the difference was almost negligible even though the e8xxx series has double the cache

thats because of the scale of those two processors. they are both really good still, so the cache difference is not obvious. but a drop from 4mb to 512KB is very very steep, and i would expect those processors to maybe perform clock to clock with AMD's?

Yes it does, look at Celeron's vs Pentium's.


As lovely say though, the difference between 4MB and 8MB for instance isn't that great, buy 512KB from 4MB is a significant difference.
