Have you tried putting a small amount of compound in the center of your CPU shield, about the size of a BB or small grain of rice and spreading it thin as you can over the shield with a credit card instead of doing that line from edge to edge like you talk about. The compound is just to fill in the imperfections between the two, not a layer between them.

what he's trying to say is that in the UK there is no such thing as rebate so there would be no money off the retail price. That coolermaster would be around £20 over here, or $40ish

you're saying no companies offer mail in rebates to those living in the UK? :confused:

a large part of my family lives in england, i will have to talk to them about this

the e4xxx series have the ihs thermal pasted when the e6xxx series are soldered.

Yeah, I've tried that, I got better results using the line down the middle teqnique. :confused:

My temps are 33c idle, 37c when using the internet and listening to music, about 42c when gaming and 55c on load.

What's the difference between having them soldered and not?

kornowski those temps sound pretty normal to me, based on what i have read from other users of the chip. if you are only getting 55c at max load you can push it further... you don't need to worry until you hit high 60s
