Hey all. My systm cant get more than 235mhz on fsb. On a normal ATA hdd i can put it on 240mhz but then my SATA hdd doesn't get detected. I cant seem to figure it out. Everything else is stock. I loaded the overclocking utility from BIOSTAR came with the board the ram indicator is by default in the yellow range whereas the cpu, pci and the other one is in the green. Could it by any chance be my RAM thats not allowing me to get further? How do i know what to set my ram to in order to get the correct ratios etc. Dont know much..

So does that mean it is my ram thats not allowing me to get more than 240mhz? Why is it that when i put it to 240mhz then it doesn't detect SATA only detecs ATA hard drive?

the not detecting sata could be a motherboard issue, try flashing the latest bios on it, but yes u can only oc to what ur ram will allow u to, cuz i believe, some1 will correct me if im wrong, but the multiplier is based on ur ram

i know what your problem is!
biostar.
kingmax.
945 chipset.

your motherboard and ram are definitely holding you back.

personally, id go with something without an intel chipset. ive have a 965g and a 975x and they both got me decent overclocks around 350 to 375fsb but core 2 duo's can go higher and we all know that... basically the more you spend the more you get, and thats no joke. the 680i motherboard are VERY successful overclockers almost every single time. try one of those... if you care enough. i know my processor is fast enough for now :)

ill probably get a quad core once i need a new rig in a year or two... and maybe use this one as a file server or something... or sell it u kno..
