Heya guys,

time has come for me to put together a PC for my friend's sister. I have decided to go for a Core 2 Duo processor. Here's what I have come up with:

MOBO: DFI Infinity 975X/G http://us.dfi.com.tw/Product/xx_pro....jsp?PRODUCT_ID=4696&CATEGORY_TYPE=LP&SITE=US
CPU: Core 2 Duo E6300
RAM: 1GB DDR2 750Mhz
HDD: 160GB WD 16MB SATAII
GFX: 7600GT
CPU: Fortron 400W (2 x 12V, 36A)

The system also comes with a 17" LCD, a DVD burner and the usual stuff. I would like to know what you think of the current setup as it stands as I am quite new to Core 2 Duo systems. I want to see a balanced system. The system is for Photoshopping and general use with some casual gaming.

i think its rather balanced to me,the ram is at a decently high clock but it ranks up there with the cpu and the graphic card is quite nice for a budget, its better than my computer *grumbles*

Some links & prices would be nice. As it is, that board appears to require an 8-pin EPS12V power connector, something that i'm reasonably sure none of the FSP 400W units provide.

I think that is very well balanced. The 7600GT is perfect for the uses since its not mainstream gaming, but can definitely get the job done. What is the budget, and how much is this current configuration at?

I assume you meant DDR2-750, not 750mhz.
That is pretty good, but may I recommend a Gigabyte DS3 board? Many more overclocking options than the Infinity, also less expensive.
Also, with the difference in price between the DS3 and the Infinity, you could get the 6400.

The DFI give more options for future upgrades though. I have heard goods things about it as well. Although same goes for the DS3's. It seems like a personal preference for one or the other really.

Zea

Got it all running nice. SuperPI @ 28 seconds on default clocks. I wonder what it will be when I get 2.5Ghz + :))
