Around 3.2 Ghz, with Artic Cooling Freezer Pro 7 idle @ 55, load @ 71-75, new cooler..

what am i doing wrong to get such high temps, can someone help? the computer seems to be stable after 2 hours of dual Prime 95

Thanks

yeah..its securely fastened..it doesn't move when i try to move it..

and yes, it has thermal paste..., it came pre-applied with Artic Cooling Freezer Pro 7, and i heard it was pretty good (from my computer store).

and yes.. my case is open, as we speak.

IS there anything wrong with the way i overclocked???

EDIT: COULD MY CPU BE BROKEN? i remeber when my friend tried to overclock it first time for me, before i knew anything about overclock, it was stable but he had +0.4V for Ram, 1.4500V for Vcore, and +0.3 for MCH.. COULD THAT DAMAGE MY CPU?

my standard procedure is to leave the ram untouched completely (meaning speeds, timing and voltages)
first start oc'ing your cpu, if that holds out start with your memory.

for your questions. you can check if its broken by putting all of the settings to default and stress test it with prime95, if that holds out for about 5 hours your probably safe.

increasing the voltage (of the fsb, multiplier or anything that puts more stress on the cpu) does reduce the lifespan of your cpu, but that's normal, riding a bike faster will also wear out the tires faster :P.
