I have the gigabyte 965p-ds3 motherboard and have been tinkering slightly I also have the zalman 9500, the idle temp is 27-28 degrees celsius, what is the hottest it can get with little to no risk as far as overclocking. I am sure there is always some, but how hard can I push it with comfort for a new guy.

Also, should mess with multiplier if I plan on only doing it a little. How large of increments should I use.

Right now the bus speed is 267 and the multiplier is x8. Core speed is 2163 MHZ.

Lastly, I appreciate links to other sight, but I would liek to skip the 15 page articles on overclocking please. I appreciate the help. Articles are welcome along with answers! :D

I'd be inclinded to keep it under 60C load. Don't touch the CPU multiplier (you can't increase it anyway), and lower the RAM multiplier to keep the RAM at or near stock speeds, at least while ascertaining your CPUs OCability. Slowly increase your FSB until you reach your max OC, upping VCore as appropriate.

If you haven't already, read through OC101.
