Honestly, I have heard of and met no one who has damaged a c2d yet with OCing. It is hard to prove that it would be from OCing anyways, no way of telling definitively. If it stops working, fill out the papers and return it, who cares.
this is why ill be able to do just about everthing but OCing ...maybe one of these days when i get my system built ill learn all the "how to's" with overclocking.
btw...im hoping to be placing my order by the end of the week so im still debating on price vs. performance
overclocking seems easy. i havent done it yet, but the actual how tos seem elemenatry. i'm just not sure of how to optimize the overclock so it runs at a speed that all the components benefit from.
