One of this CPU will be in my new computer, how much better is the Q6600 to the E6600? I know the Q6600 will be like $266 in July. And if it is worth it, I'd rather get that than the E6600. The CPU is mainly for gaming so what would you recommend?

Well the Q6600 has twice as many cores as the E6600. It doesnt make a huge difference now, but if you plan on keeping the processor for a while, I strongly recommend waiting.

Or you can do what i'm doing, buying a cheaper C2D to hold me over until the price drops of July.

As soon as games jump on the multiple thread bandwagon, and not some half-assed donkey jump, the q6600 will see a much larger performance increase compared to it's dual core sibling. Just remember that most games aren't as CPU intensive as GPU.. So if it's a choice between a better Video card or a better Processor, go with the GFX! :D

Ya I am waiting for the 8900 series to come out then the price will drop on the 8800GTX. Thats what I am going to get. The 8800GTX. Just hope Nvidia releases it soon.

The Q6600 is just as good at gaming as the E6600, since they run at the same speed. What they probably mean is that it's not the best at gaming since games cant utilize all 4 cores yet.

if i had a computer to last 3 years wich would keep up gaming with gaming faster

quad core q6600
or core 2 due e6850

i have water cooling so it will be great if some 1 can estimate how high i can get by ocing on the quad if not e6850 although i herd the e6850 dosnt like voltage changes

College comp? Is computer your major??

Of course, I will be buying a laptop soon, my Dad said he won't buy a Macbook, he said I need one that will be able to work with both computers. He doesn't understand how Mac's MS Word and Windows MS Word will work together:rolleyes:

Well there actually isn't much sense in buying something that won't be fully utilized in the near future, especially when you consider the volatility of tech pricing these days.

But i dunno when games will start taking advantage of 4+ cores so i can't say this would be a bad buy, merely a safe one....
