e6600 wont hold overclock

2.4 to 3.0Ghz isn't much of a push, you could prolly aim higher. If I could overclock a 400Mhz Celeron to 600Mhz, which is 1.5x the speed (back in the day) then these new CPUs must be able to at least manage that.

Of course back in the day, that was the only unlocked celeron version made. I'm not sure about these Core 2 Duos, but it shouldn't cause tremendous problems. But then again, I ran the computer with the case sides off and had one of those personal fans blowing on the CPU (cuz the CPU fan had died).

i have a zelman 9700 with as5 plus i have the side case off with a summer household fan blowing on the eniter case. My only problem is it wont hold the overclock. I booted up my comp today and it was 2.4 again..fell from the 2.79 i had on it. I went into the bios and the part that says Custom Clock speed (other something like that ) was disabled. I had enabled it to get the 2.79ghz but it automatically turn itself off. How do i lock the mother at custom cpy freq and not let it auto change back to 2.4??
