Hey guys, i want to get a good CPU for a high end gaming rig im getting next week. Im going to overclock my CPU no matter what CPU i get, but im going to try to get to 4ghz with the E6700. What would be better for my money? I want to get to 4ghz just so that i can be apart of the 4ghz club on Overclocker Forums.. What would be a better CPU and why

The E6600 will overclock just as easily as the E6700, and you can get the same speed for less. But don't expect to get 4GHz. I have heard plenty of successful 3.6GHz overclocks, though.

The E6700 will overclock a bit higher, but because it has a higher multiplier.

4Ghz is pushing it, i'd say you're lucky getting anything over 3.4Ghz.

i've heard of even quad cores making it to 4ghz

you just need good cooling

the stock cooling certainly wont get you close. maybe not even over 3 with good results
