e6750 @ 3.6 not stable

I've overclocked it to 3.6 however it is not stable after running prime95 after an hour and fails 3dmark on the cpu test. I have a zalman 9700 and it cools well at 3.6 idle:25/32 load:50.

I would like to know what i should change in bios to achieve stabibility. Thank you for your time and concern.

Specs:

Motherboard: P35-DS3L

Processor: e6750 FSB:450 Multiplier:8x

Memory: 2x patriot DDR2-800

Graphic Card: Radeon HD 3870

PSU: Purepower 500W

Have you increased the voltage? Simply increasing the FSB won't do. Take it up a notch at a time until it's stable.

It may be called that, only increase it by one incrament before each test though as you want to get the lowest stable voltage as to not create excessive heat.

EDIT: That voltage is quite high, you may have passsed the point where the CPU can no longer be stable under any conditions, clock back to about 3.4 or 3.2 and drop the voltage to 1.3-something.

I ran prime95 blend test tonight with 1.5v and so far 5 hours stable compared to 2 hours before. Temperature at its highest is 61

Once it passes the 8 hour mark i'll be timming the ram. What timings should i use with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220144 Thank you
I wouldn't go any higher then 1.5v, and if it doesn't get higher then 61c then it's fine.

The link to the RAM doesn't work, what is the model, and what speed is it running at when the CPU is at 3.6GHz?

The link works now, but I still don't know what the RAM is running at now. That is extremely important when it comes to determining what timings to run it at.
At auto settings its 5-5-5-18
When its 4-4-4-12 i have an error that /system32/ntoskrnl.exe is corrupt.
When i change it back to 5-5-5-18 there is no error.
.3v ddr2

Again, I know that the RAM runs at DDR2 800 stock. But because you overclocked your processor, most likely your RAM is not running at the factory speeds, so therefor 4-4-4-12 may not be stable.

When you say .3v, do you mean the RAM is running at 2.3v or 0.3v above normal?

2.3v

I'm having this same problem

I havn't tried increasing my voltages however.

I have the same proc and same board as him, with this RAM : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231087

Right now I am running 3.4ghz with 850mhz RAM @ 4-5-5-15 timings.

To make our procs 3.6 we need to increase our ram to 900mhz.

To the OP, I'm running 3.4 ghz (8x multiplier, 425 fsb) with voltages of about 1.16 to 1.28.

I'm running 3.6 ghz 8xmultiplier, 450 fsb with voltages of 1.5
4-5-5-15
i'll try to up tighten it up later

after a second of running memtest i get an error. What timmings should i run?
You first need to answer the question I've asked you several times already. What speed is your RAM running at? I'm not asking the stock speed, i'm asking for the current speed. Then we can recommend to you the timings.

5-6-6-18

is 3.6 too high to tighten the ram timmings?
Ok, if you don't want to seriously answer my question then just forget it.

For the 5th time, what is the speed the RAM is running at? To find out download CPU-Z and go to the memory tab. 3.6GHz is the speed of your CPU, not your RAM.
