e8400 overclocking board

lol, I just posted a thread about overclocking my Q6700 to 3.0Ghz on that exact board (which has failed). So far I haven't had a great overclocking experience with it, but that's just me.

4GHz is pushing it, right now I can't get higher then 3.85GHz with my CPU and motherboard. I'm hoping to change that though when I get my X48 soon.

the gigabyte you bought has a small heatsink with no fan. the asus comes with an optional fan and has a larger heatsink. that was an issue when i overclocked with my 975x, it has a crappy heatsink on the northbridge and the 80mm fan i put on there doesnt make a huge difference just because the heatsink is THAT crappy.

@ tknick - you bought a freezer 7 pro.. ive used them before they're not that phenominal thats why they cost $30. my big typhoon was actually better than stock cooling by a lot.

maybe i wont get 4ghz at stock voltage.. but i'll see what i can get with a bit more juice. thing is, i wont leave it at my max overclock.. leaving it overvolted isnt very wise lol
