I just installed windows 7 and my CPU is getting upwards to 90c in temps, PC auto shuts down when excess of those temps, it did not do this when I had XP installed.
NOTE - me and a friend were looking over my PC before install and noticed the heat sink (stock cooler) was not installed on the cpu properly or so we thought. Almost instantly upon the "fix" i notice a huge increase in PC performance, however after the W7 install I was playing a game and under load my temps were reaching 85c+. Idol my PC was at around 49-58c(which i think is higher than before). On an E8400 which from what ive read runs very cool, even with the stock heatsink/fan.
My case is a full tower xclio windtunnel http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811103011&Tpk=xclio windtunnel that has 2 huge fans on the door and just installed 2 120mm fans so case cooling is not issue.
Im just not certain why I would get such a major change in temps after all this. Im thinking the cpu heatsink is not sitting right on the cpu now and what we thought was a fix actually made it worse ALSO i was going to replace the stock sink anyway so maybe that will just be a cure all?
