umm i had p4 3.0ghz and a 4870 and i got 40fps in source. then i got an e6550 and now i get 220-300fps. cpu matters a lot.
I was very surprised too when I changed my 64*2 @ 2.3GHz for an E8400 @ 3.5GHz I got +150fps (in css) with the same gpu ^^

For my E8400 :
  • 3.7GHz
  • FSB : 412MHz (x9)
  • 2*2Go OCZ reaper pc8500 5-5-5-15 1:1
  • Vcore : 1.3v (bios)
  • 56° in load (watercooled...)
  • bad serie :(

I got it stable at 3.9GHz but I had to put up the voltage too much

hate to tell you but COD4 is a very video card heavy game, the processor matters very little, unless your running a single core or like an AMD X2...

What cooler do you run and what does your CPU idle at?

i figured this thread would be a good place to get help... 3.6 runs great with no hiccups at all, 4.0 is another story. can you guys spot anything that may be behind this? my only idea at this point is that it is my RAM.
