I recently got my E8400 and a new mobo(P35-DS3). So I took out the ol' 4600+ x2 and the mobo and put the new stuff in. Connected it and all that. So I boot it up into the bios and go looking around for anything that needs changing. I see that my CPU temp is 105 degrees! YIKES! I thought. So I shut it down straight away. took the panel of the case off touched the heatsink and its colder than room temperature.I googled it and I see numerous people with my problem.I booted it up again into windows uninstalled the AMD drivers and installed the new ones, thinking alot of people are having this problem so I kept going. The next day I got home from school and boot it up seems a little slower than my athlon.I updated the bios to the latest one. I played COD4 and sure enough around 2-4 mins in my computer shuts down. I turned it on and went into the bios 115 degrees! Around five seconds later it shutdown again. So I waited till it cooled down. I ran coretemps and found that it was only running at 2 Ghz. But windows says different (3 Ghz).
So does any body know a work around for this? Has intel released anything? I haven't found anything yet. This is my first intel expierence and I am a bit disappointed right now.
I havent overclocked it at all or used a third party heat sink so my warrenty should cover it right?
Also I'm thinking I should disable the thermal settings so it doesn't underclock it anymore.
