E8400 vs E8500

no difference, the E8500 has a 9.5x multi, the 8400 has a 9x. Not worth the price, IMO.

So it seems like I should just go for the E8400 and save myself the extra $80 for something else.

And ThatGuy16 I was wondering, I notice me and you will pretty much have the same setup, so I was wondering, what do you think will be the max overclock for the E8400.

Also how much highier if any would the E8500 be?

Thanks

not sure, im at 4ghz / 1.28v on air. stable. I havn't even pushed it yet, i bumped it up to 4.3ghz for some benchmarks. I'm sure you can do 4.5ghz for benchmarks on air or higher.

I saw a post on another forum of 4.7 ghz for benchmarking, also on air. I'm probably gonna put mine up to about 4.3 for benchmark, and run it at 4.0 normally. Hopefully the mobo I got will allow me to OC well, people weren't exactly thrilled with my decision, but I wanted SLI eventually so I didn't get the P35-D3L or whatever everyone loves. We'll see.

what kind of monster has intel unleashed here with the 45nm processors, thats absolutely insane that you can go almost (and im sure when someone gets braver) 2GHz past stock on a processor
