Just wondering....Ebay,Do they charge you for just listing what your selling on their site...Then also charge you again when you sell something? If so how much?

Can you register on ebay and use your Paypal adress for sending/recieving funds ratherer than entering bank account details?

Just want to get some info about Ebay from real people and your Opinions and any bad moments you have had with it.

You get charged when listing an item, if you want extra pictures etc.

I THINK there is a commision when you sell stuff

You can tie ebay account with paypal.
 
You get charged an insertion fee, plus all the little subfee's when listing an item.

Once you're item sell's you'll then be charged a final value fee depending on the item this can be up to 10%. I think electronics over £100 are 10% not sure.

The payment a seller sends you goes to paypal, who'll automatically take their fee's straight off, aboout 8-9% iirc.


Ebay fee's don't have to be paid straight away you can leave it like a month or two :)

I remember when I sold my computer, my ebay fee's ended up to £67 & I think paypal took like an additional £40.

That depends on the type of paypal account you have. If you have a normal one, where you mostly buy or something, its only like2-3%, but it goes up if you sell boatloads of stuff, as your account type is changed.

Hmmm, usually, eBay is pretty good. One time I sold something, for like, 12 bucks shipped, and the moron sent me a message "money order sent, please ship the game right away!". Of course, I didn't send it, I never got a money order, and the guy was "no longer a registered ebay member" within like a week. NEVER ship before payment is received and cleared. My only other bad expreince I can remember is I bought a cylinder kit for $110 shipped, and the asshole sold me a faulty kit, it burned up after 50 miles, and then he refused to replace it, AND when he told me he would fix the cylinder, he later told me no, its not possible anymore, AFTER i shipped it. He did not want to invoice me, he want me to stick $10 in the package for return shipping (didnt do that). The guy was full of shit, twisted words (and failed), changed what he said every other emailed, called me names, bragged about his bachelors business degree (which he bragged about getting in 8 years...pretty good considering it only takes 4 years :P) found out that my dad had bought some sort of kit 3 years ago (feedback said something about a kit not working, and the kit was not even a cylinder kit) and said "And you claimed you had the same problems, so whats up with that" or something. Well in the end, i called ebay, and got my money back LOL!

I haven't sold from ebay - but looked into it once.

1) They charge you a listing fee - that can be cheap - and if you add multiple pictures - want a photo when your item comes up on a list - you want a photo if your item - there's additional fees ( theyr'e small )

2) They take a small percentage of your sale price. People work around this somewhat by having a higher shipping cost - as there are no ebay fees on shipping costs.

If you want a free selling list - try craigslist - if selling local is a workable sitution. There's no cost - but you have to be willing to have somebody come to your place and pick the item up ( or deliver it ).
 
Ebay is a great place to buy things since the buyer protection is very good. But same thing can not be said for sellers.

from my personal experience sellers have absolutely no protection. If the buyer decide he does not like what he got or simply didn't read your listing, all he has to do is file a claim and no matter what the seller will end up losing no matter what.

I sold an external hard drive enclosure on ebay and included everything on the discription down to the last missing screw. And guess what? Buyer wants a refund because a screw is missing. and ebay took money right out of my paypal account and refunded the buyer.

Just be extra careful when selling on ebay.

I'm not too sure if the same regulations are in place between the pond.


On the UK Ebay, you'll get quite a high final value fee on electronics, but cannot pass the price onto shipping as ebay now limits the shipping price that you'll allowed to set :(
 
yea there is now limits set on shipping fees i still see some people getting around it somehow, i was looking at a ps3 blu-ray drive replacement bid was at 10 but shipping was 80 idk how he was aable to do this but he did

this is not true, just describe everything how it is, and make sure to put tracking on all shipments, its the buyers responsibility to read and agree to bidding.

when a claim is filed ebay waits to here your side of the story if you wait to long to respond then they take action into their own hands the give u a certain amount of time to respond though.
 
They charge a listing fee and a commission when the item sells. and then paypal takes a fee for you getting payed. oaypal is owned by ebay so they're hoarding in the cash :(
 
I was happy enough with the old fee's :)


I stupidly didn't read the new t&c's, so after I sold my comp, expecting to have to give ebay say £15-20 tops I was horrified when my fee's came to £67!

I don't use ebay too much anymore, fee's are too much :(

After digging around i found Ebays fees List,The Insertion Fees aint so bad but the Final Value Fees + whatever Paypel decides to take out are!

Imo its not going to be worth it,especialy if whatever im selling is under £40 ish :cool:

Looks like il just stick to selling on here :),At least that way your in the know on what you will be getting from a sale. :):good:
