Yes it will my friend. Although the AMD Athlon 64 X2 5800+ is AM2, AMD made AM2+ backwards compatible.

Ok out of those two cpu's which one should I get.

They would be about the same in gaming, Phenom might be faster in everyday tasks and some games, those older phenoms are so not good, just a little step up from X2.
And you know that Newegg just dropped pirce on 920 and 940?

I ended up going with a Phenom 9650 quad I love it.
