Hi, i have a ESC socket 754 mobo for the Desktop in my sig:

So i installed the UX theme patcher that was recommened in the "Vista for everybody thread" and when i rebooted the mobo gets to the post screen but seems to freeze there. I took the battery outta the mobo and tried to turn it on and the same thing happens.

Any other suggestions other than the jumpers, because i already did that..

Edit: It seems that it takes forever to POST. But it eventually does POST.. But it takes like 20min.

Taking the battery out of it's holder certainly won't help with a Windows problem there. It sounds like something went sidewats when installing the utility preventing Windows from loading normally. If you can get to the Windows F8 boot menu there are two things that can be tried there. The first has little chance but may work.

The first would be trying to boot up with the "last known configuration that worked" option to see if Windows started loading then. The second is to choose the "safe mode/command prompt only" option and type:
%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe exactly the way you see it here. This will manually startup the system restore process to bring Windows back before you installed the theme changer. If both of these fail you may have to perform a repair install of Windows. http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

alright, i got into windows, it just took forever to POST but windows runs fine. Im going to try and flash the CMOS and see what happens.

You mean update the bios there. The problem preventing a normal startup isn't from a corrupted bios but the obvious bad install of the download. That probably crosslinked to a few system files. One thing to try now is a run of the system file checker with the Windows installation disk in the drive. You simply type "sfc /scannow" at the Run prompt off of the Start menu and click ok or what I often do is simply hit the enter/return key to get that running. That will repair or simply replace any crosslinked or missing files.
