does anyone know of any programs that will allow me to edit gif files?
like, for example, i have a gif of a spider hanging from a web and it moves back and forth. it's prttey cool and i want to use it as a background, but i don't like the way it has a white backround to the gif. i'd rather have it be black.
anyone have any ideas?
i appreciate it

Try using the trial version of Jasc Paintshop Pro, I would reccomend that to beginners. It has alot of neat effects, and you can design awesome graphics once you learn how to use all the tools. I personally prefer Adobe Photoshop, it's interface is much better to work with, but with Jasc Paintshop Pro it is easier for a beginner to learn how to use the tools. If you want to try the free trial versions go to http://www.jasc.com (for Jasc Paintshop Pro, or http://www.adobe.com (for the Adobe Photoshop).

i have adobe photoshop 7.0
i've just never tinkered with it enough to learn how to use the tools
seems pretty good though
didn't know you could do gif's with it

and yes, they are animated gifs

Usually the photoshop comes with ImageReady which is a specialized editor for animated gifs as mentioned before.

A cheap alternative

If you dig around old pc mag disks and find an old copy of Jasc Paintshop Pro,
install that one instead of a new copy.

Rumour has it, (cough), that the trial peroids on older copies tell you when you have exceeded the 30 day trial, but still let you use the software without purchasing or registering.

Yes, that's true. When the 30 day trial expires, they give you another 60 days to use the computer until it expires.

As narafa said, Adobe Photoshop always comes with Adobe ImageReady. If it doesn't come with Adobe ImageReady, then you might have purchased a pirated version. If you need help, I would suggest you check out websites such as http://good-tutorials.com and http://pixel2life.com for tutorials. They have excellent tutorials!

i'll check it out later tonight
i don't have it installed right now because i had no use for it at the time and couldn't figure out what to do with it anyways
