Edubuntu Suggestion

I'm installing Edubuntu for one of my old teachers. He already has Windows XP Installed. XP is kind of messed up. It has a bunch of start up software, So it is really slow. He does not use many windows programs. Would you suggest to format the whole disk and install just edubuntu as solo?

i would but make sure that he has the data stored. also if it is a school computer (ie the school gave it to him to use) then you have to ask the school

I think it's his. Because, My school does not have emachines. I will make sure to ask him. I think I will partition because it is a 100 GB Hard Drive.

so by partition do you mean split the drive into two and have it dule boot?

Yep. It has 81 GB I think. So, I will split it.

ok. i dont think ubunto has that so you will need partition magic or gparted to split it

Yeah. Just to be on the safe side. I will burn a live cd of gparted. Thanks!

I'm 99% sure Ubuntu can resize an NTFS partition but better safe then sorry.

I checked and it does have the partitioner built in to edubuntu. But I still burned the live cd of gparted.
