What exactly is an email client? Is it like yahoo mail, hotmail etc or something else?

How do you set a default email client?

How do you block the downloading of remote images and Javascript/Active x?

And how do you set the deleted folder to empty on closing the application?

Pleaseeeeeeee help me! Very desperate and stressed!

An email client is usually a program on your computer through which you download your mail from yahoo, gmail etc.

Both of those are nice. Mozilla is free, while Outlook, as mentioned, is not. If you don't need the full Outlook though, MS offers (or did - I would imagine still) Outlook Express, which is a watered-down, but still capable, version gratis.

Edit: Actually, Outlook Express came with XP, so it's still around.

In Vista it is Windows Mail, not Outlook Express.

The email provider has to support pop3 protocol for Mozilla Thunderbird, most sites have easy tutorials on how to set it up. I use it, a double click and I am reading email.
