Email Hacking

Hello, I suspect that someone (non-work related) has access to my Yahoo Acct. I've changed passwords, perhaps not strong enough, and wondered if there is a product available to activate which would email my blackberry should someone log into my account?

What kind of firewall/antivirus/antispyware do you have? Could be something that was able to find the password when you used it on your computer.

If you suspect someone stealing your passwords then I would start running some malware scans on your system and post the logs for us to look at. I remember a few years ago that I unknown to me went to a site that looked like yahoo and entered my login and password and within a few seconds was logged out of yahoo messenger and I logged back in and within a few seconds was logged back out and couldn't log back in due to wrong password. Check into yahoo homepage about creating security code on yahoo login pages so you know it truly yahoo.

Actually I just searched for it, it's called a sign in seal.

    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • A log will be saved automatically which you can access by clicking on the Logs tab within Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

If you continue to experience problems after doing this, please post a HijackThis log by doing the following:

Download the HijackThis installer from here.
Run the installer and choose Install, indicating that you accept the licence agreement. The installer will place a shortcut on your desktop and launch HijackThis.

Click Do a system scan and save a logfile

Most of what HijackThis lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

Post the logfile that HijackThis produces along with the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware log

I don't think it's from anything I've downloaded....I think its someone I know whose accessing my account....an ex-gf. I've changed the password to something I don't believe she'll be able to get this time around, but I wasn't sure if there was some program that allowed me to be notified when my yahoo acct is logged into.

I should note that I've changed computers to something that she never has had access too so she wouldn't have been able to download spyware as she doesn't have access nor have I clicked on any "attachments" from her as she hasn't sent anything to this particular account.

the only way one can hack into your yahoo email is via sub7 style trojan, grabs your keystrokes when you type your password, i use to be a hacker in good old DOS days, yes i was a bad kid, trust me i dont and will never hack again, but be careful, make sure your PC is virus/spyware free, your best bet is to backup your gear and reinstall windows with a solid firewall.
