Hey evryone my grandparents have a Gateway laptop that has Windows Vista on it. Every time they got o open it up and send a message to someone it won't let them. A mesage pops up saying there was a error and it shows that the message going out with a X by it. What can be wrong with this?

This is the exact message it says

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '[email protected]'. Subject '', Account: 'pop-server.cfl.rr.com', Server: 'smtp-server.cfl.rr.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '553 Authentication is required to send mail as <[email protected]>', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 553, Error Number: 0x800CCC78

I'm guessing here the mail server does not like the @CFL.RR.COM part of the e-mail address. Are you positive that address is correct?

I'm not to sure, my grandmom just told me that she could receive emails but can't and that it only happened up here in NJ. (she lives in NJ during summer, then FL for winter)
