Email sent with viruses

I've been getting emails from servers I don't know lately. They claimed that I sent an email to one of their clients with a virus attached on it. They sent the email back though.

I checkd it but I never sent the email nor is their on my address book. I've also checked for viruses and adwares on my pc but the program didn't detect anything.

I'm just wondering why is this happening and if I'm going to get into any trouble for this.

Thanks

The email which says you have sent them an email with a virus is probably a virus in itself. I wouldnt click on any attachments on them.
If you havent intentionally done anything wrong, then I dont think you have anything to be worried about.

Thanks but there weren't any attachments. Exactly what made me curious. There weren't anything in the email that would potentially make me contact them. There were no attachments, no links and especially no indiciation that asks me to reply the email.

Strange though. I would've just ignored it if it was only one email. But today, i received the 4th so-called complain.

Is it possible that someone out there is randomly using other ppl's email add as a sender?

No one has thought of this possibility. What if Sin Adam has a virus on his computer which sends emails to other peoples computer with virus attachments. its been seen before. I suggest Sin Adam scans his computer with a few different programs and virus scanners.

There are email based viruses which dont require attatchments. These are a new, "fun" breed of viruses.

Possible however that would make the virus way to easy to track down. Most of the recent viruses do something else: they infect a computer and send out viruses using email addresses hijacked from that computer....what does this mean? It means that potentially someone who has your email in their contact list (a buddy or something) has a virus and that virus is sending out emails spoofing as you .. standard tactic... not much you can really do unless you're paranoid and know who'm you've given your email addy to
