email spam/virus links

so i get emails from random people whom i dont know, and emails with subjects of just letters jumbled together etc. they are obviously not of a good nature. most emails that are spam you open the email and there is a link below saying something "click here to unsubscribe" etc. ive opened one of them and there is just a sentence with a link within the one sentence, no unsubscribe. ive marked them as spam and they then go to the spam folder but then new ones arrive from different locations which then go straight to the inbox. how can i get these spam emails to just stop all together. i would prefer not to change my email address but if that is what must happen so be it. do you guys have any ideas?

i use hotmail and gmail, in hotmail you can set a bock list for spam, you should always have to emails, one for companys and registering on sites etc, and a personal one

I always had it also and using Thunderbird as the client. I don't visit sites normally haphazardly. Mostly here, news mostly. Have a few other sites i like to visit. I get 5 or 6 in the morning mostly and few during the day. everyday.
Never could stop it. Never open and just delete.

gmail has the best spam blocking, hotmail and yahoo i use to use but to be honest, once you go to gmail, your problems are solved...plus all droid phones have built in gmail, its great

Come on!

How hard can it be to only have 7-8 emails to delete per day. It takes less than 15 seconds, while changing email addresses will cause you problems for months to come!
