So i just recently got the BFG GeForce 8800 GTS. I was reading about it and it aid that i can enable some diabled pipelines. How would i go about doing that?

I haven't heard of anyone being able to unlock the 8800GTS. Can you give a link to where you read it?

why the heck would the company disable pipelines?

there are only a certain amount to begin with as they are built in, but why would they be locked?

Pipelines are usually disabled (and laser cut) because they are faulty. Then you can make money on something you'd otherwise have to throw away.

I didn't think ATi or nvidia cards had unlockable pipelines anymore.

no... they cut pipelines so they can make lower end models

it wouldnt be cost effective to make the gts and gtx physicly different

they just lower clocks via a new bios and cut some pipelines

But like Cromewell said they only cut 'em if they're faulty. Otherwise they leave 'em alone.
