Enough Power?

Is there a program or an easy way to tell if a powersupply is enough for your pc? Recently for like the last 4 months or so if i have to restart sometimes i have to hit my reset button like 10x until it will finally boot... I'm thinking this has something to do with my powersupply but not for sure any help would be greatly appreciated...

Whats the easiest way to get this to you? I have seen it done so many times differnt ways? and i cannt remember all my specs its been a while like 3 years since i built this pc...

I find it hard to believe you don't even know whats in the PC you built a few years ago, but if you really don't then download CPU-Z and Everest. You would need to physically look at your PSU to get it's specs however.

Dude whenI built this thing i didnt know much at all about pc's and its random parts my friend helped me build. Also since it was built i have had to replace the pc and its an older one i got for free from work but the one i had before that was doing the same thing on restart.... The most i know is i have 2.5gigs of ram a p4 prescott core 2 dvd burners 2 harddrives one sata and one ide ati radeon 1300 card with dual monitors 2 usb external harddrives and a wireless card..

This was recommended to me (on this forum):

That's what I use as well. It'll give you a pretty good estimate, but not an approximation.

To me it always seems like a very low estimate. Even with a high-end mobo, dual GPU setup, etc. it recommended just 318W. Seems rather low considering how most people go for something in the 600-700W range for a high-end system.

I just ran the calculator and it estimated my usage at 897W. Seems too high, IMO. I dunno, I've heard people say that the calculator is way off. It could be, I guess. :)

Why would that be off? That sounds just right, or even too little for a quad processor, two 8800 Ultra's, and all that other crap you have.

Also to the OP, try using correct grammar next time. It's confusing reading your post since it looks like you had said that you had a P4 Prescott Core 2.

I know right? I was just referring to all the hard drives, optical drives, fans, lights, etc.

Yes, I'm aware of the components you were referring to. "Crap" is not how I would describe my hardware, however. :P
