hello,
i tried changing my bios to ahci mode (from ide), and it's constantly getting stuck in the same screen (i added a photo),
i have 3 hdd's -
1. 256gb samsung ssd
2. 1tb toshiba hgst
3. 1tb wd black caviar
if the wd is plugged i see this screen, when i unplug it the computer starts normally... is there anything i can do about it?
it works only with the ide mode when the wd is plugged,
i use windows 10 which is installed on my ssd

thanks!!1.jpg 2.jpg

Its very possible that the Western Digital drive has errors on it causing the freeze up, since the drive is already 7 years old. Before you can swith to ahci mode did you change the registry to load the ahci driver at boot up? If you didn't then windows won't load. I would run a diagnostic on the WD drive.

I still say there is something up with the drive. Have you tried a different sata cable or sata port?

Yes, thats the correct way.

I'm assuming there is data on the WD drive?

Do you know what bios revision is installed?

My guess is that there is something wrong with the WD drive when AHCI is activated. I would try a new drive and see if it reacts the same way, I bet it won't.

when i unplug it and i have only the ssd and toshiba 1tb drives plugged it works just fine... i was looking for a solution for my old wd :(
thank a lot anyway!!

Can you connect the WD to a different computer and try updating firmware that way? Other than that, seems there may be an issue with your computer.
