EPIC FAIL on my part

So I'll start off my story by saying that i am not a hardware guy, and yes i made a retarded mistake. Basically I was sick and tired of Xbox, and i wanted to experience the joys of pc gaming. So i set out to get a sweet gaming comp that could last me for the next couple of years.
Overview of critical components (or so I thought)
GPU: SLI GTX 260
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955
RAM: 8 gigs DDR2
Now I thought the expensive mobos were just for show and didnt really do much else. Much to my dismay, apparently they harness the power of everything in the comp. So now what should have been a comp that could run crysis on high at at least 30 fps, barely runs it on medium a 20 fps. Apparently the mobo i have now (ASUS M3N72-D) is trash. So my question is what mobo would be able to harness all the power of what should be a bad ass computer, im running at a $300 budget. Im looking to buy in the coming weeks.

Thanks for the help,
Ed

Are you realy sure its your mobo and not your power supply or something?

It could be a faulty GPU...anything realy,Cant you RMA the board if your realy think its the board?

I dont think it is a faulty gpu, i downloaded nvidia ntune, and both cards seem to be running fine. I dunno if i can RMA the mobo, i bought the custom pc from cyberpower. I have a sneaking suspicion it is the mobo, but if it isnt how do i diagnose the problem. I feel like my comp should be churning through games like butter, but i cant get a smooth fps at 1900 x 1080 on all high in any recent game (past 4 years), and I really want to fix it and start enjoying games. Oh and how do i check if the PSU is running fine, its an 850 W it shouldnt be under any stress i dont think?

Wattage means not too much. What is the brand of it, and what are the amps on the +12V rail(s)?

The board is not a problem with your AM3 processor. That board w/ the right BIOS update should run that 955 AM3 no problem.

Sirsaechao you are correct! I did some research and my bios revision does not support the cpu i have. I downloaded the latest bios revision for my cpu, but how do I install the .BIN file?
