Equivalent Core Duo processor in order to have similar speed?

My notebook has serius problems so I am planning to get a new one. I have a Pentium 4 Processor, 2.8 GHz, what would be the equivalent Core Duo processor in order to have similar speed?

but thats a pretty good notebook to have a 2.8 p4 inside it, never say a notbook with that high clock of a p4, thing must die easily and get really hot
