When you run the setup program for your new OS, it should offer the FORMAT option.

Alternatively, use the EBD option to create a floppy disk to BOOT from. And use the FORMAT command from A: Eg: FORMAT C: /u /c

Do you want to delete everything and install a new os? if so pop in your OS cd, restart your computer, it should say PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM CD, Press any key, then follow the on screen menu, then when it asks to format, format using NTSF. THen after that it will install a new OS for you. Once you have finished, install all your old drivers, firewall, and ANtivirus.

If you format your computer fully you will lose your operating system. This means when your PC boots up after the format, Windows XP (or whatever operating system you had) will be gone and you won't be able to load it.

You will have to re-install the OS if you can, this might not be possible if you cannot re-use your CD-Key. Alternatively, you will have to purchase a new operating system.

Yea true, this is why not to many people like microsoft too much because they try to make an extra buck off of you wherever you go.

yes you can still reinstall ur OS and re-use ur CD-key but you're gonna have to go through the activation process again but there is a way to by pass the activation process as long as there are no hardware changes in your system
