Erasing Hard Drive

So I want to upgrade my hard drive and sell the old one. What's a very good free program that will erase and write over the data on the hard drive? Or do you recommend buying a program for that? Has to be good because I had banking and other financial things on it and I don't want others to look it up.

If you're paranoid you can use http://dban.sourceforge.net/ I would probably just format it and be done with it but dban will hinder most recovery operations quite heavily.

MaxBlast will COMPLETELY erase everything on your HDD. It zeros it out so pretty much it's back to factory condition.
