Hi all

Last night I was packing up from using my laptop with my telescope, unplugged the webcam I had in and it turned my screen to the blue error screen, the laptop turned off, restarted and now all I see after turning on is the following:

" windows has encounter a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer.

this error can be caused by unplugging a removeable storage device such as an external USB device while the device is in use, or by faulty hardware such as a hard drive or CD-ROM drive that is failing. Make sure any removable storage is properly connected and then restart your computer.

If you continue to receive this error message, contact the hardware manufacture

Status: 0xc00000e9

info: an unexpected I/0 error has occurred."

ive done abit of googleing to find some info but nothing really much comes up whats caused this to happen? and is there anything that can be done without replacing the hard drive?

Regards
Chris

I don't have access to a cd/dvd and I think its windows 7? if that's what you mean by operating system, im not particularly good with computers

Try turning the computer on and immediately press the f8 button to access safe mode options. Hopefully you'll see the option of "repair your computer" Or its possible that after restarting a time or two that the option of repairing your computer should automatically appear.

just tried the f8 way pressed enter on repair your computer, and its taken me back to the same error message ive also tried to set it factory settings and it wont let me do that either, i cant get to the desktop in any way ive tried including safe mode etc

Sounds like you may have some hardware damage. The only other thing you can do is try doing a system recovery. There should be a recovery partition that you boot into and do the recovery. What is the make and model of laptop you have?

You can try the procedure here to access the recovery program.

http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answer...2LzEvdGltZS8xMzkzOTc4ODYwL3NpZC9YZDJZS3FPbA==

Note... There should be 2 options

1. recovery with all user data deleted. drive will be formatted and windows will be reinstalled.

2. recovery with all user data retained. Windows will be reinstalled with user data in tact. However, there is always a chance data can't be recovered.

If you have important data then access the drive by attaching it to another system and copy over important data.

Ive just had ago at it and the only thing that comes up is the following

Edit windows boot options for: windows 7

path: \windows\system32\winload.exe

partition: 2
hard disk: f434a665

[ /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN

and if i press enter it takes me back to the original error message

That don't sound good. Do you know what brand of hard drive it has? Sounds like the drive may be damaged. You can try running a diagnostic on it.

i don't know what brand it is to be honest, how would i go about running a diagnostic? it does seem to me that the only way this is heading is a new hard drive

Would have to know the brand of drive before we give you the correct program to use.
