Error in installing Epson scanner

On my main laptop, I used to have the Epson scanner (V30), as well as a legacy Minolta film scanner installed. I had to used something like a compatibility mode for the Minolta because it was really dated.

After I upgraded to Windows 10, the Epson scanner doesn't show up in the Printer & Scanner folder. So I went to Epson website and downloaded the newest one (compatible with Windows 10) and tried to installed it.

Right after I ran the installation when all the files were unzipped, the installation would pop up and changed to Minolta Dual Scan installation. If I go thru the installation, the Minolta Dual Scan icon would be on my desktop. But if I clicked on it, it would say "Cannot find scanner".

I tried uninstalling both the Epson and Minolta (even Vuscan) from the machine and then reinstalling Epson again. But the same thing happened. Somehow, the Minolta scanner seems to hijack the Epson installation.

I have installed the Epson on another machine, which didn't have the Minolta installed previously. So it is not the Epson driver.

How can I circumvent the Minolta issue?

Uninstall both drivers and all associated software.

Then connect only the Epson printer and its software, making sure you let it run its updater.

Then go into control panel and set it as primary / default printer.

Then disconnect the Epson and repeat the driver process for the Minolta.

Go back into the control panel and ensure the Epson is the default printer etc.

Maybe you can clarify how to "clean out" all the associated software. I went into control panel and uninstall the Minolta, the Epson and Vuscan. Then I started to install Epson, with only the Epson plugged in, and still had the same Minolta hijack problem.

GO to the Windows Program folder after uninstalling the traditional way and then delete any Minolta folder.
