I have just built a new Matrox RT.X2 Video Workstation.

including an:
  • Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700
  • Asus P5W DH Deluxe

Everytime i turn on my new system this message displays:

"Intel CPU uCode Loading Error"

When i hit "F1" to resume everthing works without any known problems.

If anyone knows of what ould be causing this and/or a possible solution i would be greatful.

Try flashing your BIOS... Research shows that lots of people have that problem you have... From Pentium 4's to Quads...

Ehh, not in your BIOS.

Go to your manufacturers website... and look for that model...'s page. Download the BIOS update, and get it onto a disk. Make sure you backup your existing BIOS version though. A bad update without a backup = dead mobo.

I have downloaded the latest BIOS from ASUS. How do i backup and update my existing BIOS. Sorry for sounding so "nooby" but i understand what dangerous water i am treading in.

why is it so dangerous to flash a bios?

cant it just be updated again?

Some boards have a dual bios, but most don't. So if it fails during a bios update, the motherboard is trash.

Do not ever turn off the system while the bios is being updated, do not ever interrupt while the bios is being updated. Make sure you have the correct bios, and back up your existing bios before updating.
If during the update it tells you it did not work, always re update with your backed up bios before quitting.

I successfullu upgraded my BIOS which solved the issue and the Q6700 runs like a dream.

One thing i noticed is my hard drives are not set to primary slave/master. they are set to third slave master does that matter.

Only if you care :D

Keep that BIOS backup safely!
