error message

when i try to open some applications i get this error message:

"c:/windows/system32/autoexec.nt. the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications. Choose 'close' to terminate the application."

can anyone help me find a solution.

I think that you get this error message when you are trying to run old programs that used to run under DOS or win 3.1 or 3.11 or even 95.

What is the windows version you are using? This will help identify the problem better.

im running xp. but i have run some of these before and they have worked fine. its just recently.

I've had this problem before.

Insert your windows CD, go to start->run and type in 'expand D:\i386\autoexec.nt_ c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt'.

Replace the D: with your CD drive letter, most CD drivers are labelled as 'D:' though.
