Ethernet Adapter

Hi,

I want to have internet on my new windows xp computer.
I have a wireless router in my house for the laptops we have.
Normally we connect the desktops with an ethernet adapter and it's plug and play. With this new computer he can't find the ethernet adapter.
What should I do?

buy a PCI ethernet card...theyre only about $4-5

Any other way? I should have internet this evening...
I also have a wireless lan pc card 22mbps...
Don't know what that is....
