Hi all,
Been trawling the internet for last few weeks tryin to find an answer, but getting confused with all the tech talk.
I wonder if someone can help please.
I live in a shared house and up until a month ago it was just me with the NETGEAR router in the hallway. I never had a problem with internet connection or speed on my laptop( wireless). Then a couple moved in upstairs with TWO PC's and said they would need the router to be in their room as they HAD to connect via the ethernet as their PC's would work wireless??
The problem is now that I cant get on the internet 9/10, if i do its almost not worth it as its so slow/ keep kicking me off. I know they do a fair bit of downloading and online gaming.
My questions are
(a) Could they connect wirless if i told them i wanted the router back in the hallway?
(b) If they ran an ethernet down the stairs would it slow me down again.
They reckon the ethernet cable isnt giving them any preferential bandwith/ improved performance???
Thanks
mark
