Ethernet Interferes with Wireless

Hi. I have two ethernet connections on my PC. One is for my Xbox and the other for my PS3. I don't have a spare router, if that would help. The problem is if I have the wireless (internet connection) and the PS3 ethernet (USB to Ethernet adapter) on at the same time, neither work. No internet and No PS3 connection....Any way I can use both at the same time without one blocking the other?

I modded my PS3 so I can transfer movies and music to it, but I am usually using the internet at the same time. The USB-Ethernet adapter is a Netgear FA120 and the wireless is the Netgear WG111v2 USB Connector....Anyone help me out?

Is your computer near the router? If so, just use a 4 port switch to run the xbox and ps3. What you are trying to accomplish is internet connection sharing but its not hooked up right. I don't think you can share internet to more than one network card and plus I also think you need to use crossover cables not regular ethernet cables.

Nah, you can most definitely use regular ethernet cables, as long as they look like this cable. I have my Xbox 360 running through my ethernet port via ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) with a standard Cat5e 10/100 ethernet cable. The cable must be what's called a Cat5e 10/100mb ethernet cable. Those are standard cables that they sell at Walmart, your local computer shops, etc. However, the ethernet cable that comes packaged with the Xbox 360 (that little grey cable) is an old ethernet base T cable that is not auto-negotiable, and is not a Cat5e. It's a Cat5 ethernet cable, and will not work.

Requirements for ICS to Xbox 360.
Cat5e ethernet cable or above (i.e. Cat6, commonly known as 'Gigabit') As I stated, these are easily purchase at any local store for around $8. Cat5e Ethernet Cable Cat6 ethernet Cable from Walmart.
The ethernet port on your computer must be a 10/100mb or above (i.e. 10/100/1000) to auto-negotiate, so that a crossover cable isn't needed.
ICS must be enabled on the wireless adapter.

For the Vista/ 7 ICS configuration web page, scroll down until you see "How to set up Internet Connection Sharing".

The PS3 should take in the same fashion because ICS is a way to connect any device that is ethernet compatible, including but not limited to, other computers. Using this method realistically saves quite a bit of cash, as your one computer is being used as a router.

If you have anymore questions, or need more detail, I am more than happy to help.
