Hello forum!

I am a newbie to this forum so want to say Hello to all.

I have an Inspiron 1100 laptop which the on board Ethernet has no driver or I do not know how to make it work. Here is what happens: When it boots up it loads all start up software then message comes up"Found new hardware" It tries to load driver but says cannot find, I went to device mgr. and then to network and saw the yellow! I checked properties and it said either corrupt or no driver loaded. After going to system information under problem hardware it show it was the Ethernet PCI Broadcom 100/10 Ethernet. I then tried to get drivers for it and found some BUT I may not have put them in the proper place because when I try to load driver for it, it is not found so I just click cancel and have bought an USB external Ethernet card for networking. Any help would be appreciated.

You simply need to download and install the missing driver. It is available here:

Still won't load driver

Hello,
Thanks for the info. I did the down load and tried to get it to work but it still says "can not find software" I then went to system info and here is what it shows when I check for problem devices.

PCI Device PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_FFFF&SUBSYS_FFFFFFFF&REV_01\4&3B90381F&0&08F0 The drivers for this device are not installed.

PCI Device PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_FFFF&SUBSYS_FFFFFFFF&REV_01\4&3B90381F&0&09F0 This device is not configured correctly

Hope that helps to see where problem might be:confused:

The device "ffff" is for the interrupt controller. Please uninstall any other software that you have tried loading for the network card and start over. You may need to format and reinstall again to fix this. Or try doing a system restore back to when you had just reinstalled windows and then try installing the correct driver.

Johnb35,

Thank you for your information.
I have never used restore. Will I lose any software I loaded after the restore date. I have a lot of very special aviation programs I would hate to lose.

If you do a system restore, it will take your system back to when you first installed windows minus any software you have installed since you installed windows. So you would lose any programs installed, but if you have the cd's to reinstall them, then you are set to go.
