Ethernet problem

ok today i woke up to find my dad complaining that his internet wasnt working and i came down to the ethernet cord when you plug it in it does nothing no little orange light or anything when i plug the same cord into my computer it works ive tried blowing it out and cleaning but just can get it to work any thoughts?:confused:
 
The network card on his machine is most likely dead, check in device manager to make sure its enabled and the driver is properly installed. If everything looks ok, then its just a matter of buying new network card.
 
how do you replace a net work card because it plugs right into the motherboard theres not a seperate card like video and sound etc...
 
Then you would have to buy a dedicated card but look in device manager first to make sure everything is working correctly.
