Ethernet?

I wouldn't mess with a powerline Ethernet system. They're a bit of a hassle it seems, plus they're expensive. I've used 2 PCIe WiFi adapters as well as a couple cheap USB ports from China on eBay. My router is one and a half floors down so its a decent distance to go.

My first one is this Rosewill. Pretty good for the price. Decent latency (though j did notice some lag occasionally). I got like 2-3 bars of range.

The second is this TP Link. It was actually pretty amazing. Latency was almost as good as wired, and range was also amazing. Usually 5 bars, sometimes 4.

Neither of these are AC which doesn't matter unless you have seriously fast internet.

At fastest, my internet is 50 down. Will the TP link get reception about 10 feet away, in a corner, under a desk?

For sure. That TP Link will get speeds way faster than that, and the range can go way farther than that. Mine had to go around 40 feet or so, between floors, and my computer was on the side of the desk furthest from the router.

And Voyager, mind linking the $35 one you found? I wouldn't mind taking a look at it.

I'm leaning towards your wireless adapter, as I know how it works, and how to set one up, unlike power line.

A house has one main circuit, split up into individual circuits for the house. All connected to the "main" breaker.

Get a dual-band N NIC if you can, the 5GHz band has much less interference and it doubles your bandwidth (speed).

I believe the TP link is dual band, and while my regular gets 10 on a good day, my 5ghz gets over 40
