So, I'm having problems with my computer... again!

I've had so many problems with this build, I don't know where to start.

I thought I had it all sorted when I re-installed Windows and didn't install the nForce drivers, this fixed the problems I was having, for a little while. 9The nForce Drivers were messing with my HDDs for some reason).

I had my CPU @ 3.4Ghz for a few months, and it was fine and stable. Then, one day it wouldn't BOOT and would display 'C0' on the POST read-out. I googled it and couldn't find anything. I also looked in the EVGA Manual but there was nothing about a 'C0' error.

Any, I then set it to 3.2Ghz and it was running fine. Now, I'm getting random BSOD's (Yet again! ). Most of the time they're just as it starts to load Windows (with the green bars), but today I just got one when I was doing some video editing.

I don't think it's the PSU, as the most I've ever seen my PC use was 470Watts.

I thought it was the HDDs (as I had one of them break and cause BSODs, got it replaced) but they both passed Drive Fitness Tests. Yet, I some what feel it could be them?

It could be the RAM, I've heard that Ballistix aren't all that great? Yet, they've passed multiple passes of Memtest in the past when I've had problems just like this. I've also heard that the 750i is picky with RAM?

I also get the feeling it could be the MOBO?

I could send the HDD back and get a different one, yet I'm not 100% sure that's the problem and I don't just want them to send it back, as it'd waste my time and theirs.

Same with the MOBO. I could send it back, but I'm not 100% that's the problem, plus, I don't know if I'd get another one (RMA) or go for a different board?

I don't have any other RAM that I can try, or another PSU.

I'm really stuck on what to do. It can't really happen at a worse time, I'm at University so I have loads of work to do and a real lack of money.

Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks

Because it is a multitude of problems, CPU, RAM, HDD, it could be your mobo. As you say, maybe your HDD or RAM, but if both have passed tests then probably not. That leaves your CPU or motherboard.

I'm going to update the BIOS. Then I'll then run Memtest and Drive Fitness Test for about the 1,000,000th time.

EDIT: Just got another BSOD, this time it was a 'MEMORY_MANAGMENT'.

your computer hates you, doesn't it?

It seems that its your motherboard. Can you test it out by switching mobos? If not, I suggest you try to RMA or somthing like that.

Yeah, then I would personally try the Mobo first. That should narrow it down to the CPU. and you said that you got another error that makes me think that memtest didnt catch your memory issue...

Man, I'm glad I don't have that many issues with my computer. I have had next to none that wasn't my fault for messing with system files lolz

Even if your PSU does not use its maximum capacity of 520W, it can still have problems with the voltages, I would think.

So, you've had the same type of problems with the E6300 and the Q6600 right? so that's not the problem. You've tried about 3 different HDD's and still the problem right? Video cards aren't the problem (have you tried one at a time?). Leaves either the PSU or the RAM. I would buy a cheap pair of (1GBx2) RAM and see what happened. Also, try clocking your Q6600 back to stock speeds, and use it like that for some time, see if you get the errors.

Yeah, I guess so. I may look into getting a new one at some point in the future.

Yeah, pretty much. Not exactly the same, but near enough. It can't be the video cards, I'm sure I had the problem when I only had one.

I'm going to run Memtest on each stick individually and see if it picks anything up. I'm also going to update the BIOS.

Well since you changed so much stuff out, other than the P/S. Put it this way, If you brought it to me and told what you have done so far, that would be the first thing I would swap out. But then again I dont have to buy one because I have backups to test on it. Just hate for you to buy something else and not be it. That could be the next upgrade on your list just because its so close already of being overpowered by the hardware.

You might have done said, but have you tried running it with just one 8800 and see if it still restarts?

Yeah, I guess so. I'm running it at stock at the moment, to see if that makes any difference. I guess if it's fine at stock, then it's more than likely some power issue. I'll still try Memtest over the week-end though.

No, I haven't tried it with just the one 8800, though I think I do recall having problems like this before I went SLI.

Well man if you lived near me I would let you use one of my P/S for a few days to help you out.:)

95% of the restart problems I,ve worked on have been a Driver or P/S issue. Most of the time Video cards or Memory will cause lock/freezeups. Motherboards are alittle different, can cause both. Because of the flacky Cap/mosfet, but boards tend it get worse as time goes on.

Thanks, Dude. Shame you're in the US though, Eh.

I haven't updated any drivers for a little while, and with having the problems in the past, with different drivers, I'm doubting it's that.

The last BSOD I had was a 'Memory_Management'. I'm actually hoping it's the RAM, as it's the cheapest thing to replace.

Maybe underclock your memory.

Like say if its default is 800 at 2.1V, downclock it to 667 but leave the V at 2.1. See if it helps.

I'm not sure how I'd Downclock it, I don't think I've seen an option to manually set the speed of my RAM in the BIOS.

The recommended voltage for my RAM is 2.2v, and that's what I've been running it at.

I'll have to try that, thanks, Strangle.

Ran Memtest individually on 3 out of my 4 sticks now, making sure I keep them in their corresponding slots. (So, when I have 4GB installed, I have stick two in slot two, so I've had stick two in slot two when testing).

Stick One (Slot 1) : 18 Passes = No Errors
Stick Two (Slot 2) : 22 Passes = No Errors
Stick Three (Slot 3 : 14 Passes = No Errors

I don't know what to do if stick Four doesn't find any errors.

I've not had any problems with my system at stock, would I need to OC my RAM (to the same speed I had it at when I was at 3.2Ghz) for it to find errors?

Haven't tested the last stick yet, but I just remembered my RAM was at stock when I was at 3.2Ghz (getting BSODs). Should I manually up the speed of the RAM and test it then?

I also tried for 3.4Ghz again (after having flashed the BIOS) and I get the same 'C0' error on the post read out, though it isn't listed in the booklet and I can't find anything on the web.

Don't know what to think now, any ideas?

I couldn't get anything out of this, but if you can then good:

A week ago or so i had pretty much 100% the same problem, BSODs, freezeing, just general misery. And it wasn't an every now and again thing, it was every 10/15 mins it would go.

Not trying to fix the problem specifically, i uninstalled vista to try the windows 7 beta. After a day or 2, hating it i uninstalled and reinstalled vista ultimate and came upon something quite strange.

I was having issues booting up, i had the bootmgr was not found message I first tried running repair through my vista ultimate disk and then restarted. Same again. I took out the drive with windows 7 and had only my backup drive which has vista on it just incase. Even with only 1 drive in and no windows 7 in there, it came up with the select OS screen like it does if you are dual booting. The options were Windows Ultimate (the backup drive) but then, and i can't figure this bit out, this isn't the bit i am telling you the story for though, but if anyone has ideas, please say :P, it also had Windows Vista Ultimate (recovered) and Windows 7, even though the drive with the repaired windows and the same one which had windows 7 on wasn't in!!!!

I tried putting my other drive back in then and straight in it went. Now my system is totally stable again and i've noticed it is even slightly quicker.

I know before i didn't have a virus or anything and i ran memtest more times then i can count with no errors.

Maybe then it was corrupt sector or problem with the vista install. Try running the windows repair and see if that picks anything up and see then if it sorts any kind of problem. It could also be driver issue as all of mine got reinstalled after this and i had a clean system. I promise you that i didn't fiddle with any hardware or anything but it all got cleared up. Obviously, your problem may not be the exact same, but it just adds another possibility
