Evenly distrbute processor work load?

So I was playing Garry's Mod the other day and noticed it was a bit laggy, even though I have 2 XFX HD4850 Graphic cards, 4 GB of 1066 DDR2 ram and a AMD Phenom II X4 940 3.0GHz quad core processor. So then I minimized the game and saw on my side bar that the first core of mu processor was at 100% and the others were at about 2-5%.
So my question is "Is there any way that I can tell my processor to split up the work load?"

That is all taken care of by system level and higher level programming code by the application itself and the OS. There is nothing you can do as an end user to fix this.

Now there may be some configuration settings with in Gary's Mod to enable multiple core support, or the BIOS or perhaps in Windows somewhere, though to be honest I think that the developer of the Mod needs to add the support before it would really work.
