Ever heard of the Term "Grayware"

I have never heard of the term until recently. I looked up two definitions on it.

Grayware

The term grayware describes threats that are not truly malicious code, but these programs have indirect negative effects, such as decreasing performance or using up bandwith. They are still undesirable and computers should have protection against grayware which includes some types of spyware, adware, spam and spim.


Grayware (or greyware) is a general term sometimes used as a classification for applications that behave in a manner that is annoying or undesirable, and yet less serious or troublesome than malicious software. Grayware encompasses spyware, adware, dialers, joke programs, remote access tools, and any other unwelcome files and programs apart from viruses that are designed to harm the performance of computers on your network. The term has been in use since at least as early as September 2004.

Generally speaking it is and it is not a malware - "half of each"

I also think the term grayware is stupid. If you didn't intentionally put software on your system and it is degrading your performance it is malicious software in my opinion. The definition of malicious software is the following: any unwanted program that means to do harm to a computer and is transmitted to your computer without your knowledge.
