the back of the computer says model no: va250w
recently the thing crashed and i'm not completely sure whats wrong with it but i'm leaning toward the hard drive, i took it apart and the outer foil like casing was all wavy and dented. the last couple of times it restarted everytime i would go to click something it would freeze, then it came up with a black screen that was all pixelized with what looked like blue command prompts that were really big. then it just wouldn't restart. you could hear the fan kick on, but it wouldn't process. put a cd in and it would try to read it and then stop. no screen would pop up, just hang.
my brother in law and i took the thing apart the only thing we noticed physically was the hard drive, didn't see any loose connections or burn marks on the motherboard or anywhere else.
is it worth trying to fix this thing? i already bought an HP pavilion but i'd like to try to resurect the everex, i was gonna try to buy a hard drive and start from there, what would be a replacement for it, it's a western digital wd800bevs 80 gig thats discontinued.
i drive truck and i'm on call, and out on the road alot in hotels, i would'nt wanna beat the crap outta my HP just yet ha ha. any suggestions would be appreciated!
