Everex XT5000T

Trying to get a few more years out of my old Everex, and just dropped a TL-60 in it, however my cpu temps went up a whole 20C from the TL-60 that was in it before. Wondering if there is anything simple i can do to it to help, i have drilled holes in the bottom cover to bring in more air, but i think this thing might require some massive reworking of the bottom cover, as in a completely machined bottom x.x;

Standard temps were: 35-40 idle, 70-75C loaded

New temps: 45-50C idle, 100C+ loaded (it goes thermal and shuts down >.<)

I don't know what the previous CPU was, but it probably simply lacks the cooling capacity for that CPU. AMD processors tend to run very hot in laptops so I doubt there's much else you could do unless you can find a better cooler for that particular model.

just bumping to say, that if you run into the problem with a overheat and you think you applied thermal compound right, doublecheck the spreading of the compound...if it doesnt appear to touch, add more. my problem with my stepnote is that i didnt apply enough, and there was no thermal contact between the heatsink and the die of the cpu...so it would overheat immediately x.x;
