I just thought I'd list a poll to see the operating systems everyone is running for two reasons...1. To see if anyone has Windows 95 anymore. 2. To see how widespread Linux is on this forum.

You should redo your poll... if you group any Windows OS's together, it should be 95/98 and 2000/XP. Then you forgot the all mighty Windows ME! :P

You also forgot stuff like Windows server 2003, i am running that right now. Bloody IIS6 wont run on XP and MySQL and PHP is a qhole lot easier on there. But from the choices i choose XP cause its a whole load of eye candy in one OS.

I'm still using ME on one of my old machines, the Celeron one. It's purely because I don't have money.

XP includes the Home, Pro, etc. editions. Also, if you have a server category OS or ME then you can list it as "other". I guess I figured not a lot of people would have those (then again I did give a bubble to Knoppix and Unix).

family computer is running xp pro sp2, my rig is running media center 2005
my lappy is running media center 2005 the unopened toshiba lappy has a xp home sp2.

Hey

I am a fan of Windows XP Pro SP2 that I am using now. No blue screen since installation, no freeze as such. Simply great! I also use Ubuntu Linux which I cannot configure properly! Ah damn! Why is Linux not so user friendly as XP?

JAN :D

suse lunix is pretty much like windows except the installation of sofware part. i dont even know how to install firefox in linux so confusing.

I'm currently running windows xp although i would love to try out linux
By the way, isn't knoppix a form of distributed linux, completely different from unix operating system?

Hmm ... i downloaded knoppix several times which was painstaking as every download ate up 680 mb or so of my downloads and then i burnt it onto a cd as it was a LiveCD but everytime i tried to boot my computer from the CD it didn't work at all
I made sure in the BIOS settings that it always booted from the CD first and everything but it still would boot from the hard drive not the CD
Any suggestions as to why this would happen?

Right now I use: windows xp, win 2000pro, SuSE 9.1 personal, Knoppix 3.6, Xandros 3 OCE, Mac OS System 7.5.3 and 6.x

isnt windows 200 like a "sooped up" version of windows 98?
Sorry I'm late, but I figured someone would of answered this. That's more like ME to 98. XP is a sooped up verison of 2000...

I believe that Windows 2000 is better than windows XP (but doesnt look as good and not as user friendly) because it doesnt use as much RAM and is just about the same.
