Until I install the new MSI R6950 TWIN FROZR III Power Edition Video Card.

I do not get a signal with either the of the DVI or HDMI ports, but the previous video card works fine.

I went to Compusa and the worker said he had no idea what might be wrong. He told me to exchange the video card for another one because it might be defected. That was my first thought too when I couldn't find what could possibly be wrong.

I'm coming here for more opinions on what might be wrong.

Previous Video Card: 2GB DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GT 420
Power Supply: 600w Corsair...
Motherboard: Motherboard - Aloe (PWM B, 125W E0 supported) Part Number: 618937-002
RAM: 6gb
Processor: AMD Athlon II X4 640, 3.00GHz
Os: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit

The computer is not a build my own, it was custom bought from the hpstore online, I upgraded the psu from a 300w to a 600w for the video card, nothing else was done. Model: HPE- 500z

I also have another pc that I built myself with the same model video card and it works perfectly. But, that PC is located far from me atm, so I cannot test the new video card on it.

If all connections are checked (secure in the slot, monitor cable all the way in, power to the board), and making sure in the right slot (first PCI slot).... I would deffinately say deffective.

Did you attach 2 - 6pin pci express power connectors from the power supply to the video card?

My advice to you would be to get rid of the OEM motherboard and buy yourself a new one that will support that processor. Some OEM motherboards will only accept up to a max video card. This may be one of them.

Okay, thanks. The video card is on it's way to getting replaced just in case.

If it doesn't work with the new card, I'll change the mobo.
